Gail Friend Designs

I'm sure by now you all are quite familiar with my fascination for all things patisserie. I found yummy pillows at Gail Friend Designs that I love. No, you can't eat them. These are original designs by Gail and are quite adorable. You NEED at least one of these. Really.

This is my favorite. I have never met a wedding cake that I didn't like.

Too cute!

Cupcakes anyone?

Cinnamon Almonds

Oven roasted cinnamon almonds. Yum! My DH loves these and when I saw the price of a very small package of them at the market I decided that I can make them myself. Thanks to the power of the internet, I'm now armed with a recipe. That's a bowl of melted butter, almonds and another bowl with cinnamon, brown sugar, white sugar and ground cloves. The smell is wonderful and the taste was just as yummy. They didn't last long around here. ;)

Now throw all of the ingredients together making sure each almond has a chance to get some of the sweet goo on it. Pour the entire bowl out on to parchment paper and bake.

Here's the final yummy result:

Tax Day Tea Party

While I've never blogged on politics, this post is too important not to. Seriously, the way out of debt does not involve leaving massive amounts of debt to our great-grandchildren. So if you disagree with the administration's and Congress's spending plan check out this site and join in a Tax Day Tea Party on Wed., April 15th, 2009.

Victorian Lace Rose Faux Cake

Spring flowers are blooming everywhere and this faux cake is, too! I've topped it with darling pink garden roses and a pretty lace pattern. It would be a lovely addition to your spring decorating. Enjoy! :)

Dinner!

Mmmmm..... here's what I made for dinner last Friday night. I'm really enjoying Mediterranean food. Pictured is tabouli, curried Meditarranean rice (I forgot the raisins.... I'll be sure to get them in there next time though), curry chicken, tahini, tzatziki, falafel, Israeli salad and bread. Oh my! This was a fantastic plate of flavors, colors and textures! :)

Super Plant!

Wow!
I have finally found a plant that I can't kill. It's mint! This one lives in the kitchen window. I've always liked having live plants indoors... minus the gnats. However, I tend to overwater them and they miss out on the full sunshine outdoors which means they always wind up in the trash.

In my endeavour to try more Mediterranean recipes, I've been going through a lot of mint. So I decided that it would be more economical to buy a plant, grow it and harvest as needed. My BF, Jen, pointed out that now I need parsley. Hmmm.... I wonder if it'll do as well next to the mint?
